Super honored that this piece received “Honorable Mention” in the 2021 @iphotoawards International Photo Awards Competition!

Oaxacan Mezcalero, Emigdio Jarquín Ramírez and a roasted agave piña.

Emigdio learned the ways of mezcal production from his grandfather. Three generations of knowledge goes into each of his bottles offered by @mezcalvago

Perched at around 5,000 above sea level outside of Miahuatlán de Porfirio Díaz, Emigdio’s palenque is about two and a half hours south of Oaxaca City in the arid rolling hills of the Nanche district (16°23'51.4"N 96°33'03.5"W).
