DETAILS

Santeria is a syncretic religion of West African and Caribbean origin, also known as Regla de Ocha or La Regla Lucumi. Santeria’s origins date back to Cuba and Brazil circa 1515. During the slave trade,
Yoruba and Bantu natives were forcibly transported from Africa to the Caribbean.  They were typically baptized by the Roman Catholic Church upon arrival and their native practices suppressed.  They developed a novel way of keeping their old beliefs alive by equating each of their traditional Orishas, a spirit or deity that reflects one of the manifestations of God, with a corresponding Christian saint of the newly ‘acquired’ religion.

All Limited Edition Collector’s Series pieces are printed on museum rag paper or museum edition canvas using archival pigment inks. Limited Edition Collector’s Series pieces ship, print only.  If choosing a paper, your piece will ship with a 1.5 inch white border around the entirety of the image where they are signed, titled, numbered and embossed over the dated signature.  If choosing canvas, the pieces will be shipped with a 1.5″-2″ mirror to allow for the piece to be stretched over 1.5″-2″ stretcher bars. Canvas pieces are signed and numbered on bottom right front of the image unless otherwise requested. All Limited Edition Collector’s Series pieces are shipped unframed and tubed with a Certificate of Authenticity.  We include recommendations on how to frame your new art to insure maximum style and longevity.  Edition numbers are the total in the edition and independent of size.  There are not multiple editions for different sizes.  Only one number, one edition.

Initialed Open Edition Prints are printed on photographic paper and matted in an off white, 4-ply acid free matte. Open Edition Prints are initialed on the front of the matte as well as on the print itself, in verso.  All Open Edition Matted Prints fit standard frames.
