The Abilene Center for Contemporary Arts is thrilled to host National Geographic Published Photographer, Greg Davis for a culturally immersive and multi-faceted show titled Oaxacan Gold.  The exhibition features the works of Greg as well as six Master Oaxacan Folk Artists, Jacobo Ángeles Ojeda, Taller Manos Que Ven, Alejandro Vera Guzman, Magdalena Pedro Martínez, Carlomagno Pedro and Alex and Veronica Mendoza

The show, which opens on July 26, 2024, will feature photographs and artifacts from the Mexican state of Oaxaca and will be on display until September 14, 2024. DETAILS TO FOLLOW – SAVE THE DATE JULY 27th AND SEPT 14th for the ticketed events.

Davis is currently offering his latest traveling mixed media cultural exhibit, Oaxacan Gold, to art centers and museums around the State of Texas and beyond. The purpose of this exhibition is to bring awareness to the stunning beauty, cultural depth and mystical nature of the great Mexican State of Oaxaca through an educational multi-media cultural experience of Davis’ photography, a Master folk art exhibit, textiles and traditional dance. The exhibition is currently available for hire for 2025-2027.  Three pieces from this exhibition now reside in the Wittliff Collection along with works by Ansel Adams, Annie Leibowitz, Manuel Álvarez Bravo, Graciela Iturbide, Russell Lee, Edward Curtis and many more.

Oaxacan Gold premiered at the NEW Art Center Waco the summer of 2022: OAXACAN GOLD PREMIERE. Tickets to the opening night premiere SOLD OUT in three days!  The exhibition was on display from May 10th to Aug 13th, 2022. The second opening of Oaxacan Gold was also a huge success.  Over four hundred admirers and collectors attended the opening night event at the Georgetown Art Center on August 27th, 2022.  The exhibition ran from August 26th thru Sept 24th, 2022, and was free and open to the public. The cultural and educational experience was partially funded by grants from the Texas Commision for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
